About the speaker
Hon Simon Bridges is the Leader of the Opposition and chair of Parliament's Epidemic Response committee. Heserved in the Fifth National Government, most recently as Minister of Transport, Minister of Communications and Minister for Economic Development. Simon has held the seat of Tauranga since 2008. Before representing the electorate, Simon moved to Tauranga where he was a Crown prosecutor in the District and High Courts. He was first appointed as a Minister in April 2012, taking up the Consumer Affairs, Associate Transport and Associate Climate Change portfolios.
