About the speaker

Dr Alan Bollard is the Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat headquartered in Singapore, and has spent the last two years getting on and off planes all around the region. He will give his perspectives of the region and what it might mean.

Dr Bollard was Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand for that turbulent decade before and after the Global Financial Crisis. Before that he ran the New Zealand Treasury, the Commerce Commission, and the NZ Institute of Economic Research. He is the author of a number of books on the economy, and has recently published an account of the GFC, a novel about World War II, and a biography on famous NZ economist Bill Phillips.
