Why should policy focus on economic growth? The Case for Economic Growth provides the New Zealand Initiative’s answer. Economic growth is important because wealth helps New Zealand to afford better health care, improved education, a cleaner environment, and better opportunities for our children, all of which have brought us longer life expectancy, better health, and greater human flourishing. The report tours through the evidence to both demonstrate the very real gains that economic growth has brought, and to dispel a few myths about economic growth. In the long term, growth is the only way to bring real and lasting improvement to everyone’s quality of life.
